Finales de Agosto y todavía un calor achicharrante, así que aunque las revistas se empeñen en que vaya pensando en lo que me voy a poner este invierno, yo necesito un par de pantalones cortos… y rápido! Solo hay una pega: nunca he cosido nada para mi (nada con lo que pueda salir a la calle) y nunca un par de pantalones con cremallera… mmmmh. Creo que ha llegado el momento de usar mi burda costura fácil.
End of August and still hot. I feel pressured by fashion magazines to start thinking about my winter wardrobe but... I just need a pair of shorts! I could sew one for me. I could even go out on public wearing my super cool new pair of shorts. With a zip. Time for my Burda easy. Let's see what's inside:

Este modelo me sirve. Tiene un canesú de cadera que es el corte que mas me favorece. Creo que me voy a atrever con el, aunque de las rayas delanteras y de las vueltas del bajo me olvido. Demasiada historia para mi primer pantalón. Echemos un vistazo al patrón:

This model looks nice. The yoke flatters my jelly front although I'll have to say bye to the creases and turn ups. Too much for my first pair of trousers. With a zip. And now the pattern:

OK. Voy a por una mezcla entre el modelo B y el modelo D. Ahora la talla. Según mis medidas de caderas soy una 42 pero según la cintura una 40. También tendría que acortar el tiro porque las tallas del Burda son muy largas (pensamiento positivo: no es que yo sea bajita, es que ellas son demasiado altas) pero modificar el patrón es demasiado para mi, así que voy a ser purista: La 42 y a ver que sale.
Fine. I'll go for model B and D. Now the dreaded size stage. My hips are a burda 42, and my waist is a burda size 40, but I'll deal with that later. The real challenge will be the inseams. Burda girls are not as short as me (saying it that way makes me feel a lot better, as if it's them who have a problem with their height). To do it properly I would have to adjust this but I haven't got a clue on how to do it so I will ignore this and head straight to the pattern. After all this is all about the zip.

Snow Whites

A veces merece la pena dedicarle un poco de tiempo a los proyectos que se empiezan y éste es un ejemplo. Como siempre tuve que coser dos vestidos idénticos y tardé varias semanas pero no hay vestido ni juguete en esta casa que sea más usado.
El patrón es de simplicity y sólo tuve que cambiar el cuello para hacerlo más cerrado. Seguí las instrucciones al pie de la letra y el resultado es muy bueno. Es un disfraz muy bonito, y queda muy vistoso. El patrón incluye, además del vestido, la capa, la diadema y el cuello alto. Para no dedicarle más tiempo decidí no terminar el cuello, pensando que no se darían cuenta, pero me equivoqué. Les conté que Blancanieves se lo quita para bailar pero no coló, y me hicieron ver la película entera (por vigésimo tercera vez esta semana) para demostrarme que Blancanieves canta, baila, limpia, cocina, muerde la manzana, se desmaya y se va con el príncipe sin una sola arruga en el cuello... en fin, ya veré como lo arreglo.

I went into a lot of hassle sewing these two costumes but it was totally worth it. They dress up every day and just love them.
And of course I love that they love what I make for them.
The pattern is from simplicity and I found it easy to follow and quite a nice outfit. It even includes the headband. I changed the neckline and omitted the stand up collar (which I now regret because the little princesses were a bit upset about it, so I told them Snow White takes it off for dancing... but of course they didn't buy it)
