Que YO me he hecho a MI MISMA una camisa que tenía muchas ganas de coser. Siempre van los niños primero pero menos mal que llegó la invitación de Imagine Gnats para colaborar en la Selfish Sewing Week, con un patrón que me apetecía mogollón, la camisa Archer de Grainline.

So it´s MY week. Sort of. I managed to squeeze in a few days of selfish sewing to make an Archer shirt. Thanks to the invitation of Rachael of Imagine Gnats to participate in Selfish Sewing Week, I must say, because otherwise I would have carried on putting my needs under the pile of my three little ones needs.
Es una camisa ajustada, arreglá pero informal y laboriosa de coser, para qué os voy a engañar, pero si ya teneis soltura con la máquina no lo dudeis y al toro por los cuernos. ¿Y qué me decís de mi tela de anclas? Es un chambray que acaba de entrar en Telaria junto con otros lisos, Chambray Union Nautico se llama.

I fell in love with the relaxed look of this shirt. I am a shirt lady, I have plenty but none of them fits like this one. For a start the sleeve length is right for me (had to chop off 8cm of the pattern, yikes!) and the fabric is fun isn´t it?
Es un gustazo trabajar con esta tela. Parece tela vaquera pero no lo es, tiene cuerpo pero a la vez cae bien y es algodón 100%. Lo que más me gustó es lo bien que se plancha y lo poco que se arruga a pesar de ser algodón. Estoy tan contenta que le he hecho el baile de ancla

It´s cotton chambray snapped at Telaria. It was my first time working with chambray and it made my sewing so much easier compared to the nasty stuff I sometimes buy for peanuts. see my happy dance?
Y os voy a confesar una cosa... pensé que las anclas eran más pequeñitas cuando lo vi en la web de Telaria y compré lo justo, y he sido incapaz de alinear las anclas en las partes críticas, que ya sabreis cuales son pero no os lo voy a decir porque me da coraje. El bolsillo sí está bien camuflado pero es lo único que pude hacer. Pero vamos que yo feliz.

You wise stitchers will surely have noticed one terrible no-no. I admit I failed at pattern matching at critical areas. I ordered the fabric online and didn´t realized the anchors were this big so I didn´t allow for extra fabric to match the pattern. boo-hooo. I could disguise the pocket though, and that pays for the rest.
Debería coserme más, lo sé, pero estoy en ello. Es un curre, pero la felicidad que me produce tener una camisa cuya manga sea del largo justo compensa los 40 folios que tuve que pegar para sacar el patrón. Bueno no sé...

I have enjoyed sewing for me. I know I should do it more often and I´m on it. It feels so good to have a garment made for yourself that actually fits, that even the nightmare of assembling the pattern in sheets has gone away, hasn´t it?

Me reafirmo en que los patrones para adultos mejor en papel que en pdf, porque la diferencia de precio me la gasto imprimiendo, y pierdo al menos una valiolisima sesión noctura de costura. Pero eso ya pasó.
¡Ahora a disfrutar de mi camisa con las mangas estupendas!

No! I still think that pdf patterns for adults SUCK. I spend the difference in price printing off at home and I lose at least one sewing session taping the sheets.
Anyway, I have a new shirt that fits.
