I´m yet on another Pattern Tour and oh my, please do not stop inviting me to sew because my sewing mojo has disappeared and pattern tours are keeping me alive. This time it´s a T-shirt designed by Rachael from Imagine Gnats, the Tumble Tee tunic/shirt/top.
El patrón original de la Tumble Tee tiene una mezcla de
paneles para combinar, pero yo tengo dos hijas con las ideas muy claras que ya
habían estado inspeccionando el material y lo de mezclar telas no les molaba.
Sin embargo, la primera camiseta que cosí (como prueba para ver el tamaño y
observar como se comportaba la cutre máquina que me he traído de vacaciones,
que por cierto, se comporta mal con tela de camiseta), pues decía, que a la
primera camiseta que cosí sí que le hice los paneles mezclando dos camisetas viejas

The original Tumble Tee has contrasting panels to mix till you drop, but I have two very opinionated girls who made their own requests, and mixing prints weren’t in the list. The first one I made to test fit, (and also to check how the cheapo sewing machine I take with me when I go on vacation behaves with knits, verdict: missed stitches on knits), was this one out of two old t-shirts

vez más evité coser punto como se cose el punto, es decir, pasé del elástico
del cuello etc, y como la aguja doble tampoco iba bien le hice zigzag a las mangas
y le puse una banda en el bajo.
Parece un pijama y se quedará para pijama.
Hecha la primera prueba-pijama destripé una camiseta azul que tenía una cara de gato en el delantero para combinarla con otras pero mi hija me frenó en seco.

Once again I had to go round sewing with knits and find alternative ways like reusing the original neckband, hemming the sleeves with zig zag stitch and adding a band to the bottom to conceal an uneven hem. She thinks is a PJ top and I agree, but whatever. The neckline was so worn out that had lost all its give and it´s wobbly and awful. I´ll trim it off when I get back home and sew a proper neckband. Kidding.

Later on, as I was about to cannibalize a blue T-shirt with the face of a cat stenciled on the front, my daughter stopped me from cutting it in half because she wanted the whole cat face. It won´t fit sweetheart, see? Make it fit mum. But it´ll be too short. That´s good because I want a cropped shirt that shows my belly button. But it isn´t appropriate to flash your belly when you´re seven… on and on it went until she got away with the cat and the belly button.
Quería el gato entero e intacto. Pero apenas cabía de ancho y cuando le dije que se quedaría muy cortita más le gustó, porque ahora quiere enseñar el ombligo y ser moderna. Yo no estaba muy de acuerdo pero me gusta que se exprese, así que se la he hecho mega corta pero con tan pocas ganas que está cosida con hilo negro. Ahora me arrepiento porque me gusta!
La última la hice con una camiseta que me encantaba, y esta sí que quería hacerla manteniendo el mensaje.

Ya que sabía que la máquina no me
iba a dejar usar la aguja doble, he dejado los pespuntes vistos para terminarlos cuando
llegue a casa. El cuello y las mangas los he rematado con una tira doble que es
el bajo original de la camiseta.
Esta me gusta mucho y la veo guay, aunque no enseñe el
ombligo.

By
then I knew my holiday crappy sewing machine skips stitches whith a twin
needle, but I didn´t like the look of a zig zag stitch here, so I finished the sleeves and neckline with a
self fabric band (rescued from the original hem if you ask) . I´ll make the
topstitching when I get home. Really I will because I love this one that much.
Hay pocos patrones más simples que este. La manga es una prolongación del cuerpo y el delantero es idéntico a la espalda excepto que el cuello es más bajo por delante. En mi experiencia, cuantas menos piezas tenga un patrón, mejor trazadas tienen que estar porque si no es así sale un churroide. Esta camiseta me ha gustado mucho porque la manga sale perfecta. He guardado el patrón directamente en la carpeta de los básicos para repetir porque sé que la haré cada vez que pille un par de camisetas viejas.

You can´t get an easier pattern than this one, but beware of apparently simple patterns!!! In my experience the fewer pieces a pattern has the most accurate and better traced they have to be. The Tumble Tee didn´t disappoint me. It´s so quick to sew, so flattering and so forgiving that it´s gone straight to my basic pattern folder, where I keep blocks and patterns that I know will come out gorgeous and are a must every year.
