Esta chaqueta.vestido.babi es un ejemplo de lo que pasa cuando no acierto con la tela. El patrón y la confección son buenos pero el piqué de canutillo no es apropiado para este corte. Es muy fino y no soporta bien la estructura de la chaqueta, además de que la cinta al bies y las costuras se transparentan un poco. Otro inconveniente fue que las rayas no eran paralelas a los orillos y las pasé canutas para cortar las piezas al hilo. Antes de cortar tenía que haber lavado la tela, plancharla, sacarle un hilo para encontrar el recto, pedir ayuda a una mano voluntaria para estirar la tela para enderezarla... ja!!! enseguía voy a tener yo tiempo de eso!! Y para que luego se lo pruebe a la enana y me diga "Otro babi mamá?"

Cuando monté el cuello ya intuía que no iba a ser el vestido que imaginaba así que lo he usado para practicar mangas, cuellos, y acabados interiores. Como el patrón y las instrucciones son muy buenos no he tenido ninguna dificultad. En las fotos no sale muy bien, parece que está sin planchar pero es que la tela pasa de la plancha tanto como uno que yo me sé.

Por cierto, yo creía que sabía coser un botón pero después de ver este vídeo me di cuenta de que no. Resulta que es mejor enhebrar la aguja con 4 hilos, y así solo hay que pasar por el botón una dos veces. Lo probé en este proyecto y es infinitamente mejor y más rápido.

This jacket is a good example on how important is to chose the right fabric for each project.  The pattern and the sewing are both good but this pique isn´t suitable for a jacket. It´s lightweight and doesn´t hold the shape well. The fabric quality isn´t great either, because the stripes didn´t run paralel to the selvedge, as it should be. That means I would have had to true the fabric by prewashing it, pressing, pulling a thread to find the grain and recruiting a friendly hand to help me square it... as if I had so much time!

I realised this wasn´t going to be the dress I envisioned as soon as I attached the collar to the yoke, and it started to look like a child´s smock. I decided then to finish it to practice setting in sleeves, collars and inside details. As the pattern and the directions were good I finished it without problems. It doesn´t look too good on the pictures, looks like it hasn´t been pressed but it´s because this stupid fabric ignored the iron as much as someone I know.

btw, I thought I knew how to sew on a button but after watching this video I changed my mind. It turns out that threading the needle with 4 threads makes the job easier. Tried and tested, waaay better.
